the harp has to be pulled back, set on the shoulders, then the harpist's hand(s) is placed in the middle of the strings. the feet should be flat on the ground or on the pedals.

each finger should immediately go back to the palm after plucking a string. the little finger is never used because it cannot extend long enough.

one of the most famous technique on the harp is the glissando; also often used as sound effects. There are different types of glissandos: single hand ascending and descending glissandos, both hands glissandos, harmonious glissandos, and more.

played by pressing the palm lightly on the string while plucking, harmonics is a technique on the harp that produces a sound that is one octave higher than the actual note.

P.D.L.T, or près de la table, is a technique where a harpist would play close to the soundboard. By using this technique, a harpist will produce a different type of sound than by playing normally on the harp.
